Art Therapy Program
Due to its great success, the Art Therapy Program has been increased to a weekly program from a bimonthly program. The boys are now enjoy creating art each Tuesday Evening.
A huge thank you to Galancher Nagy Foundation for their consistent annual contribution. We also have a new contributor, Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs (MCACA) which has allowed us to double our program! The boys, aged 6-16, love the Art Therapy program and the opportunity it gives them to express their hopes, dreams, and feelings. Through the program the boys have a growing sense of self-esteem, interpersonal skills and communication skills; skills they take and use outside of classroom. We are very fortunate to have Molly Murphy, an artist and art therapist, who provides a terrific curriculum for the boys. The boys are enthusiastic and enthralled with the wide variety of art media provided and the growth in class participation, self-expression, self-esteem and creativity has been evident over time. The program needs the help of the CCS members to assist the boys with the “hands-on” activities. Volunteers can have a wonderful opportunity to interact directly with the boys in a positive artistic outlet. This provides support and encourages the creativity of each individual child, giving them the caring and special attention that they all need.
